Cookie policy

This page explains what effort.foundation stores on your device. It forms part of our privacy policy. This website is published and operated by EffortX Foundation Ltd (ACN 693 961 330), an Australian charity registered with the ACNC since 19 January 2026.

Please read this first

This is a working draft, not settled legal text. It has been written from what this website actually does, checked against the source code, and it has not been reviewed by a person with legal training.

Several points that bind the Foundation are still open, including retention periods, response times and the terms on which the site is offered. They are recorded in this page’s source and will be settled before this text is relied on.

This version has not been dated or numbered, because the text is not settled.

The short version

This website has no login, no account and no basket, so it has almost nothing to remember about you. It stores nothing of its own on your device: it sets no cookie, and it writes nothing into your browser’s storage. The only thing that may be stored is the cookies Google Analytics sets, and the next section says whether that is running on the deployment you are reading.

What runs, and when

This website runs Google Analytics 4, and it is running on this page. The measurement identifier is written into the site’s own source, so the tag loads on every deployment of this site rather than on the live site alone.

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies on your device. Those cookies tell one browser from another and group the pages you open into a single visit. They are the only thing this website causes to be stored on your device.

The names and lifetimes of the Google cookies are set by Google rather than by this website. They are not listed here yet, because this page states only what has been read off the deployment itself. You can see them now in your browser’s storage inspector for this site.

What Google Analytics records for us: the pages you open, clicks on a donate link, a view of the donate page, button and outbound link clicks, the opening of a panel, and whether a submission succeeded or failed, along with an approximate location derived from your IP address and your device and browser. We use it to see which pages are read and which are not.

What is stored on your device

This website stores nothing of its own on your device. It sets no cookie of its own, and it writes nothing into your browser’s local or session storage.

Anything on your device from this site is therefore set by Google Analytics, through the tag described in the section above, and not by us. If that section says analytics is not running, nothing is stored at all.

What does not run here

There is no advertising cookie, no Meta Pixel, no remarketing tag and no cookie set by a social network. We do not sell or trade what analytics collects. Google Analytics, on the conditions above, is the only third-party script this website loads, and this was checked against the site’s own dependencies and its layout.

There is no consent banner on this website.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and clear this site’s storage in the same place. Nothing on this website will stop working if you do, because nothing here depends on a cookie. Google also publishes an opt-out browser add-on for Google Analytics.

Law

Personal information collected through analytics is handled under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, as set out in our privacy policy. Analytics data is disclosed to Google LLC in the United States, which is an overseas disclosure under Australian Privacy Principle 8.

Changes and contact

This page is the source of truth for what this website stores on your device. We update it in the same change as any change to the code that stores it.
