Terms of use

These terms cover your use of effort.foundation. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.

Please read this first

This is a working draft, not settled legal text. It has been written from what this website actually does, checked against the source code, and it has not been reviewed by a person with legal training.

Several points that bind the Foundation are still open, including retention periods, response times and the terms on which the site is offered. They are recorded in this page’s source and will be settled before this text is relied on.

Who publishes this website

EffortX Foundation Ltd (ACN 693 961 330, ABN 26 693 961 330, registered office 1 Lychee Drive, Rosebank NSW 2480, Australia) publishes and operates this website. We are an Australian public company limited by guarantee, registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) since 19 January 2026.

We are not endorsed as a deductible gift recipient. Donations to us are not tax-deductible in Australia.

Two organisations, two roles

EffortX Labs Pte. Ltd. (UEN 202532502H, 160 Robinson Road #14-04, Singapore 068914) builds and operates the giving platform for the Foundation. Labs is a technology company. It is not a charity, a bank, a payment processor or an adviser. The two organisations are separate legal entities, and our about page sets out the arrangement between them.

Those company details are as Labs states them in its own terms. Self-reported. Not independently checked against the Singapore register.

The short version: this website is ours. The donation platform is software Labs operates. If you follow a donate link you leave this site, and that platform’s own terms and privacy policy apply to what you do there.

What this website is

This website is a publication. It describes the Foundation, its projects, the money it has received and the payments it has made. Figures on it are read from the giving platform’s public API and cached for a short period, so a number here can lag the platform by minutes. Where the two disagree, the platform is the record.

Amounts shown on this site are in United States dollars, which is the currency the platform records them in. There is no Australian dollar figure in that data and we do not convert one.

Nothing on this website is an offer, a contract, or financial, legal or tax advice. Nothing here is an offer of securities.

What we claim, and what we do not

We publish every payment the Foundation makes, with the amount, the date and the milestone it was paid against. Each project is broken into milestones with a stated amount. Progress updates and evidence links are published as our partners supply them.

We do not check those progress updates ourselves before publishing them, and we do not describe our milestones as checked or audited. Paying against a milestone is a decision the Foundation makes. It is not the output of an independent audit and we do not present it as one.

We carry out due diligence on the organisations we fund. Due diligence is not a guarantee of outcomes. Charitable work in difficult conditions carries real risk, and some of it does not succeed.

Using the site

Use it lawfully. Do not attempt to bypass security, scrape the site at scale, or misrepresent an affiliation with the Foundation or with any organisation named on it. Sharing a page with a person, a colleague or a journalist is welcome and needs no permission.

Links to other sites

We link to the giving platform, to public registers, and to sources we cite. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content or their handling of your data.

Intellectual property

The words, figures and photographs published on this website belong to the Foundation or to the organisations that supplied them, and are used with permission.

Privacy

Personal information is handled under our privacy policy. There is no field on this website for you to fill in, so nothing you type is collected here. The privacy policy sets out what is recorded without you typing anything, and what is not.

Disclaimers and liability

This website is provided as is and as available. To the extent the law permits, we do not guarantee that it is accurate, complete or continuously available.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), or under equivalent state law, that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability for breach of a guarantee that cannot be excluded may lawfully be limited, it is limited to supplying the relevant service again.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top is the version. Changes take effect when they are published.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia.
